Our Inaugural Snow

We get asked if it ever snows at the beach. Well, we (along with the rest of the Carolinas) were told by the weather forecasters to prepare for some today. Maybe 1" to 2" along the coast-big stuff for us. Schools were closed in anticipation.

When it started to fall mid-morning, we even went ahead and closed our offices to enjoy it a bit. See the last time we got any serious stuff was about 5 years ago, and it's been almost 10 years since we had enough snow to make a Snowman!

Well, you see by our picture above that another possible storm missed us. It got cold enough for the rain to turn to snow too late in the process-most of the storm had moved on by. But we all got a chance to watch the inauguration on TV, and they've even closed the schools another day -I guess to recover from all the excitement created by the possibility of a storm!

So, yes, technically it does snow from time to time at the beach. Most of us have moved from areas with lots of snow each year (or the famous ice storms in Atlanta in my case), so we don't miss it a great bunch. But we wouldn't mind it if we got a 'real' storm that lasted more than an hour every once in a while....
